You were a maiko (舞妓), an apprentice geisha—or you trained within some other similar tradition. Usuallly, your job consisted of performing songs, dances, and playing the shamisen or other traditional instruments for visitors during banquets and parties. Note that maiko and geisha are not sex workers.

In Yaranaika!, there are maiko of all genders and sexes, and different species, although humans are most common.

Male "maiko" are sometimes called hōkan (幇間), but in Mythic Japan maiko and geisha can be of any gender.
