Variant Rules
Recommended Houserules
- Perkins criticals: maximize the normal damage, and roll the critical damage.
- Example:
- Lvl 3 Rogue crits a Sneak Attack using his short sword and he has a +3 modfier.
- Normal damage would be = 1d6 weapon + 3 mod + 2d6 sneak.
- Normal crit would be = 1d6 weapon + 3 mod + 2d6 sneak + 3d6 crit.
- Perkins crit would be = 1d6 * weapon* + 3 mod + 2d6 sneak +18 crit, maxed dice.
- Utilizing a healing potion as a full action gives maximum healing. Utilizing it with a bonus action, roll dice for healing.
- A character may unequip any weapons or stow items they are holding then equip another weapon before or after taking an attack action and, a character may stow any items they are holding and draw another item before or after taking a Magic or Utilize action.
- Hiding should not be invisible condition.
- Clear Custom Backgrounds rules should be available to players: you can take any one Origin Feats, two skill proficiencies of your choice, one tool proficiency of your choice, and assemble a package of equipment costing 50 gp.

Character Creation
Species
Human Variant
Creature Type: Humanoid
Size: Medium (about 4–7 feet tall) or Small (about 2–4 feet tall), chosen when you select this species
Speed: 30 feet
As a Human, you have these special traits.
Persistence Hunter. You have an extra level of Exhaustion: Exhaustion 0. When you first get a level of Exhaustion, you get the zero level which doesn't have any effect on you. When you have Exhaustion 0 and get another level of Exhaustion, it becomes Exhaustion level 1 and from that point Exhaustion proceeds and is removed by the normal rules.
Skillful. You gain proficiency in one skill of your choice.
Versatile. You gain an Origin feat of your choice (see "Feats"). Skilled is recommended.

Disarm
Disarm is an Attack action made using a melee weapon. You cannot disarm a target that is two or more size categories larger than you, and, obviously, a target that is not wielding a weapon nor using a shield. If target is wielding two weapons, you can only disarm one at a time.
Make an Attack action aginst DC of 8 + target's Strength modifier + target's Proficiency Bonus
.
If target is holding the item with two or more hands, or if you are trying to disarm a shield, or a spellcasting focus, add 5 to DC.
If target is one category larger than you, add another 5 to DC.
If you succeed, your target drops the weapon or shield you tried to disarm. On a failure, nothing happens.
Sleight of Hand action: Picking Pockets
Picking pockets is not explained in SRD or the actual game, so I can include it here as an optional variant rule.
Roll Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) to pick pockets.
If your target is unaware of you, DC is the target's Passive Perception.
You get Disadvantage if your target is aware of you being close, or is engaged in combat.
You cannot succeed if your target is aware of you and suspects that you are trying to steal something.
You cannot normally steal items held or worn by the target. To snatch that Component Pouch, for example, use Disarm.
