Martial Melee Weapons
Urumi
This is one of the weapons of kalaripayattu-warriors[1] originating in Kerala, Mythic India. It was originally known as chuttuval ("curved sword"), but later urumi. It's a very dangerous weapon both for its user and the opponent.
Each urumi has several flexible blades, usually 4 to 6, but sometimes (especially in Mythic Sri Lanka) up to 32 blades. Each blade is up to 2,5 cm wide and up to 1,7 metres (5.6 ft.) long.
Urumi is used somewhat like a whip. One or two urumi are swung at a time. The user swings it over his head and then at the enemy.
It is said that it can take up to 12 years of practice to properly use urumi. For the first years or practice, long strips of fabric are used instead of the real blades.
In the world of Yaranaika, urumi is still actively used in combat, although rarely. It's more often used in religious ceremones and for entertainment. Still ... there are a few urumi using adventurers ...
Martial Ranged Weapons
Uchine
Uchine or uchikune (打根) resembles a large arrow, but is rather a small throwing spear. It had multiple uses, including using it as a kind of a bayonet if your bow string was snapped.[2][3]
