Inugami (Yaranaika)

Inugami (犬神), also known as mawg, are yōkai dog-girls (or -boys), with a varying amount of doglike traits. All have scent and resilience of dogs. Otherwise, some look like humans, some have just dog ears, some have snout, fur and tails, and so on. You decide how doglike your character is in appearance.

Inugami's relationships with Nekomimi are mixed. If an inugami and a Nekomimi meet each other, they may hate or love the other. In any case, it's rarely an ordinary companionship.

Speed: 30 feet

Docile. You tend to obey orders of authoritative figures. Whenever given an order, or being the subject of Command spell, for example, you have Disadvantage to your saving throw, or those who try to influence you gain a -5 reduction to their DC. However, if you are already under orders of someone you consider your leader, and someone attempts to give you conflicting orders, you don't get the penalties. I.e. inugami are at their best as followers, not as leaders.

Scent. Your sense of smell is tens of thousands more acute than a human's. You have Advantage to all rolls where a great sense of smell would be useful. You can track by scent, you can identify people from their scent (even better than from their appearance!), you can search things by their scent, and so on.

Toughness. Your Hit Point maximum increases by 1, and it increases by 1 again whenever you gain a level.

Additional Features

You have Advantage to intimidate normal dogs.

You can also bark like a dog; depending on circumstances, this can be heard up to 6 miles away (10 km, Finnish "peninkulma"). You can deliver messages, but recipients will have to know what each bark or series of barks mean. There's no "barking language" (yet).
