Level 6 Evocation (Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard)
Casting Time: Action
Range: 60 feet
Components: V, M (a humanoid eye, some carbon black)
Duration: 1 hour
For the duration, strong magical Darkness spreads from a point within range and fills a 60-foot-radius Sphere. Only 7th-level or higher spells that produce light can negate it, such as Daylight cast at a 7th or higher level slot.
Everyone in the area is Blinded unless they have Blindsight or Truesight. The condition caused by Utterdark ends immediately when they leave the area.
If any of this spell's area overlaps with an area of Bright Light or Dim Light created by a spell of level 6 or lower, that other spell is dispelled.
You can create a permanent Utterdark by casting this spell in the same location every day for 365 days.
GM Tip: Use this spell to create an interesting combat situation, where the combatants cannot see each other. This is a classic scene in Peking Opera.[1]
