Komusō (虚無僧)
Komusō were wandering non-monastic lay Buddhists, from the warrior-class (samurai and rōnin), who were noted for wearing straw basket hats and playing the shakuhachi bamboo flute.
In Mythic Japan, their background can be much more diverse, and they have mystical powers (Spellcasting) in addition to fighting skills. The flute, or sometimes another musical instrument, is their spellcasting focus.
