Rules

The rules of Christian Inquisitors Historical Simulation are simulation rules. Under no circumstances, anywhere, any time, at any point, and absolutely nowhere in the game and the rules will be any resemblance to the satanic "role-playing games". This is a historical simulation game, never, EVER, a role-playing game. That's because role-playing games are satan worshipping.

The Dice

Always use regular six-sided dice. They can be acquired from a toy shop, supermarket, or nearly anywhere - EXCEPT from "role-playing" shops. They only sell satanic OCCULT dice, with shapes OTHER than cubical, and OCCULT numbers instead of the regular 1 to 6 dots. That's why you must use NORMAL six-sided dice, so that satan worshippers won't claim that "this is a role-playing game" (because this never is).

Statistics

Persons (and Criminals) have certain numeric statistics, which help in simulating them. For example, the Bailiff is often strong, the Judge is wise, and the Executioner ruthless.

StatisticAbbreviationStatisticNotes
StrengthStrMuscle power, ability to restrain the accused.
RuthlessnessRthStrength of faith, ability to resting witches' temptations, ability to catch criminals no matter what, without any hesitation.
AlertnessAlrAbility to notice the minutest of details, finding hidden criminals.
WisdomWisKnowledge of law, ability to prove criminals guilty.
PersuasionPrsInterrogation skill, ability to extract the truth from a criminal.
Hand to Hand CombatH2HAbility to use a sword, club, spear or other hand weapon effectively.
Ranged CombatRnCAbility to use a bow or crossbow effectively.
Male person Female person

The minimum statistic is zero, indicating a particular weakness in that statistic. The human average statistic is 3.5. Exceptional persons can have statistics up to 6, or sometimes even higher. Naturally, women are weaker than men, so they have a -1 to Strength. On the other hand, women are devious and seductive, so they gain a +1 to Persuasion.

Criminals have the same statistics, but, obviously, use theirs for evil. For example, a witch with high Persuasion statistic is more able to tempt others into sin. Criminals' statistics have different names (for example, their Persuasion is called Seduction), but there's no need for the players to know anything about that. Only the Teacher is allowed to simulate criminals.

Simulating Statistics

Roll a 6-sided dice once for each first five statistics (Str, Rth, Alr, Wis, Prs). Record the number for each statistic. Remember that women have a -1 to Str and +1 to Prs. Minimum statistic is zero.

Next, you can freely re-arrange the first five statistics of your person.

The combat statistics are simulated a bit differently. All male players get a total 4 points to be divided into their person's Hand to Hand and Ranged Combat statistics. All points can be placed into either, or they can be divided to the statistics in another way.

Female persons should not normally fight at all, but since we allow girls to simulate persons, they also get the same 4 points for combat statistics. However, we must stress that this is just for allowing girls to participate in the simulation, and does not reflect reality.

You can test the simulation by pressing the "Simulate" button, above.

Education

(UNDER CONSTRUCTION) Some persons need an education before they qualify for the occupation, but any person benefits from an education. The Executioner, being of low status, is the least likely to have any education. The Bailiff, the Guard and the Ranger need little education. All the others must know Latin and be literate.

OccupationEducation
The InterrogatorRhetoric, Logic, Theology
The LawyerRhetoric, Law, Logic
The JudgeLaw, Logic, Theology
The ScribeArithmetics

Medieval studies: Arithmetics, Astronomy, Dialectics, Geometry, Grammar, Law, Logic, Medicine, Music, Philosophy, Rhetoric, Theology, etc.

Sin

Each person has a Sin rating. The minimum Sin rating is zero, at the holy communion and at the church service after that. Normally the minimum Sin is 1 - for no one is without sin except Jesus Christ. A simulated person's Sin rating may also be zero when he is in [armontilassa] (I've got to translate this term later, literally it means "In the state of mercy", but it needs a bit more explanation).

Sin rating of 6 or more indicates the person has turned into a criminal and the player loses that game.

Opposing Criminals

Whenever there's a criminal opposing a Christian Inquisitor, the player rolls one dice and adds his/her relevant statistic. The Teacher rolls dice for the criminal, and adds her relevant statistic. The higher roll wins. If there's a tie, the Teacher decides how it is resolved.

Example: The Interrogator person is about to bound a witch into the rack for her interrogation. The witch might struggle (indicating Strength statistic to be used), but the witch isn't physically as strong as the Interrogator, so she instead uses her Seduction statistic and attempts to seduce the Interrogator with her body. The Interrogator rolls a dice and adds his Ruthlessness statistic. The Teacher rolls a dice for the criminal and adds her Seduction ability. When the Interrogator wins, he resists the charms of the witch's body and ignores it. If it's a tie, the Interrogator probably looks at her body with some lust and is sinned until the next communion. If the witch wins, the Interrogator is overwhelmed with lust and seriously sinned.

Tools of the Trade

Fortunately, Inquisitors can use tools and other things which will assist them in opposing criminals. These give a bonus to the statistic when simulating the conflict.

¹Chain mail armor and other armor (coming up later) make it harder to hit the simulated person wearing the armor.

More tools and simulation rules concerning them will be added later.
